What are some reasons my horse would need a massage?

Pain-

Unfortunately horses can't tell us what hurts. They can only show us by their behavior. Often times negative behavior is caused from pain. This negative behavior is the only way they can communicate to us that they need our help.

Stiffness-

Massage improves range of motion by stimulating blood flow, which in turn improves tissue oxygenation and promotes healing of inflamed muscles and fascia. Your horse will be able to move in a more balanced way after massage.

Attitude-

Pain and tension creates negative attitudes. Imagine when us humans are uncomfortable, we tend to be a bit grumpy, same with your horse!

Recovering from Injury-

Compensatory pain is very common with an injury. An abscess or bruised hoof can cause back pain. Horses overuse other parts of their body to compensate for pain.

Poor Saddle Fit-

This is a common cause for pain. I'm happy to check the fit of your saddle at your massage appointment.

Preventing Injury-

Prevention is key! Regular massages can prevent injuries.

Proprioception-

Massage affects the nervous system which in turn creates body and muscles awareness. This will help your horse move in a more efficient way.
